Nokia Mobile Phones

From 2004 to 2007 I led design strategy and delivery for Nokia Entry Products business unit. I had the opportunity to work with a fantastic in-house design team in Beijing. We came up with a strategy that helped find new customers in the emerging markets with great products that brought design and connectivity to hundreds of millions of people – commanding about 50% of Nokia sales volumes at the time.

Nokia 1110 "Hutch", 2005

This humble little phone and its sister 1110i became world’s biggest-ever selling mobile device with 250 million units sold, bringing mobile connectivity at affordable price to more people than ever before.

Nokia 2630 "Barracuda", 2006

Barracuda was one of the first serious ventures in creating a truly credible business phone for emerging markets. At the time, it was also the thinnest mobile phone Nokia ever had produced.

Nokia 1650 "Tonga", 2007

Nokia 1650 was one of the first colour display phones for the emerging markets. We successfully created a beautiful design at an extremely low budget.

Nokia 2600 "Cayman", 2008

Nokia 2600 brought the Colour & Material Design to a previously unseen level at emerging markets. We brought a very fashionable-at-the-time gradient effect coatings to this phone, making it appear much above its price.
